Reviews
Amazing garlic naan, chili garlic naan and paneer tikka masala. Texture and taste of their gobi Manchurian and cut mirchi is awesome. Service is good, Ashok makes very good drinks, their Manahattan is very good. Consistent in food quality and taste.
Have gone here once a week or so for awhile now usually get same order of Chicken Vindaloo and Butter Naan
Not sure what happened this time but upon opening my food I noticed a significantly smaller portion of chicken than there usually is.
I’m not one to complain or anything. This is my first review I think but I called and was treated so poorly I have to leave this.
I didn’t even want free food but I had some man calling me a liar telling me they don’t only put 4-5 pieces of chicken when I’m looking at it and there is hahaha. No reason to lie, not trying to get money back or free food.
In photo on plate is 5 pieces of chicken I picked out (one is broken up)
The rest in the container is literally just sauce and potatoes lol $17 for this plate. Never again.
Ordered for takeout the karampodi chicken and Apollo fish. Worst dish that was prepared at Bawarchi. No taste. Lot of corn flour in both the dishes. Both dish tasted the same. Had to throw out both the dishes. Never going there again.
I placed a catering order for a party at bawarchi. My family has allergies and I thought they'd be allergy aware because their menu had marking for nuts on it. I ordered items that didn't have the nut marking on them, and spoke to the manager (in person) to confirm that the items did not have nuts and informed him of our allergies. He assured us the items were nut free. When we got the order and unpacked it at the venue, we noticed that one dish was topped with cashews. We couldn't eat it since our allergies are life threatening and had to delay the party to make safe eating arrangements. When we went back the next day (with a picture of the dish covered in cashews), the same manager told us that the chef usually doesn't put cashews in that dish but must have decided to that day. He argued with us and told us we never told him we were allergic to nuts and that we told him we're vegan. This is obviously not true considering on of our dishes was paneer-cubes of cheese made of milk. After explaining to him how dangerous this was and how someone could have died if we hadn't noticed, he said "sorry, what do you want me to do about it?". I requested a refund and he refunded that one dish (not the whole order). Overall he did not seem that concerned or upset. I told him that he has allergen markings in the menu, they need to be accurate, and that a chef cannot randomly add nuts to a dish that is marked as nut free. He did not respond to this comment. (This was all an in person conversation). If the manager was shocked and upset this had happened and was very apologetic, I might have been able to attribute it to innocent human error, but the fact that someone could have died and we barely got an apology made me lose trust in this restaurant completely. I did not get the impression that he would be taking any action to prevent this from happening again. To their credit, the food is delicious, but this is not a safe restaurant for those with food restrictions, and not a company I want to support any longer.
The worst Chicken biryani I’ve ever had in USA. There’s no salt and the masala is uncooked and raw. Every spoon of the biryani shows how irresponsibly the food was cooked. They’re just taking people for granted. Very bad.
09/03/2023 I tried crispy corn and Chicken Chukka. The crispy corn is so hard that it gets stuck in and around your teeth. They prepare food so irresponsibly that the food spoils customer’s food and health.
Good ambience and music but not so good food and service. Amongst all that we ordered, only Apollo fish was excellent, rest all was not meant for our palates. It was mediocre but won’t order those dishes anywhere else too. Had Mandakini goat and Avakai Biryani for the first time so can’t comment much as we weren’t expecting sweetness in a spicy kolhapuri dish and so much pickle in Avakai Biryani. Tandoori pomfret was served on a sizzler plate but no salt or spices there. Lemon is a must with Fish so please don’t skip serving it. Again service could have been better by simply asking “is everything okay? or Do you need anything else?” We had to wait until our meal was finished to order mango lassi and lemon soda. No complaints on the Portions as they are big enough to share.
Great dinning room and wonderful staff. Food is very good. We tried three of the vegan dishes. The Dal Tadka was a little watery but the Karaikudi was amazing. The Vegetable Manchuria was really tasty. AND they have cloth napkins, which I love. Overall it was a really nice visit.
The best Indian restaurant I’ve been to everything was so delicious.
